| Juniper Networks have announced their latest generation Secure Access appliances. License changes have reduced the costs while increasing the functionality. Malware host checking for the first 25 users is included within the base system. Juniper's key strengths are both security and cross platform support; logging and troubleshooting, as you would expect from Juniper, is also a given.
If you are using IPSec VPN for remote user access, but need to extend to home workers or business partners where the client systems are not company owned, SSL may represent an opportunity.
Typical uses of an SSL appliance include:
- Web enabled applications like Outlook Web Access
- Windows and Unix File shares
- Windows Terminal services or Citrix
- MAPI connection to an Outlook Client
- VoIP connection to a softphone application.
- Webex presentations or support via the Secure Meeting facility
